Vitamin B12 (VB12) Rapid Quantitative Test Kit (Immunofluorescence Assay)
Consumables
Information
This is suitable for the in vitro quantitative detection of vitamin B12 content in human serum, plasma, and whole blood. Clinically, it is primarily used as an auxiliary diagnosis for megaloblastic anemia.
Vitamin B12 (VB12), also known as cobalamin, is a natural vitamin with a molecular weight of 1355.37 Da. It is an important biological cofactor and nutrient that cannot be synthesized in the human body and must be obtained through an animal-based diet. Deficiency of VB12 primarily affects the blood and nervous system, leading to diseases such as pernicious anemia, dementia in the elderly, and depression. VB12 is an indispensable component in DNA synthesis; its deficiency can lead to abnormal DNA synthesis, causing megaloblastic anemia. Furthermore, VB12 is essential for the formation and maintenance of myelin; its deficiency can cause nerve damage and spinal degeneration, inducing various neurological diseases. Additionally, elevated levels of VB12 are biomarkers for certain diseases, including renal failure, liver disease, diabetes, and hematological disorders. Clinically, it is mainly used for the auxiliary diagnosis of megaloblastic anemia.
